Muizenberg is a small city in the southeast of Cape Town and about half an hour away with the car. Muizenberg has, for south Africa typically, white sand beach, where most of the families and surfers are going at the weekend, and because of that the beach can be crowded at Saturdays and Sundays. The spot is very attractive for surfers, because if there are good conditions you can ride some nice waves. It’s mostly a spot for beginners because the waves are not so big, the bottom is sandy and you are able to stand in the water for like 50 meters. On the promenade are located many surf shops where you can, if you don’t have your own, rent a surfboard for like R70 for the whole day.
A further attraction of cape town that you have to visit, is of course, Robben island. The island is the biggest of south Africa near to the coast, she lies about 12 km in the north of cape town. You can reach the island from the V&A Waterfront with a ferry, which starts a few times per day there. The transit lasts about 30-50 min, what depends a little bit on the conditions at sea. At the island you take a bus to visit the attractions, which are at different points at the island. Some attractions are the quarries, the village of the guardians and the southernmost part of the island where you have a really nice view at the table mountain.
If you want to watch penguins and don’t go to the Antarctic, you get your chance at Boulders Beach. It lies on the east coast of the cape and it’s like one hour away with the car. The pleasure is not free, but with something about R100 easy affordable. After the entry you walk on a boardwalk the beach along, where you can see the first penguins. It’s really funny to watch the cute animals to waddle on the beach or swim in the sea. At Boulders Beach are always many tourists, which wanna make a picture or a video of the penguins, so you have to patient to get a closer view at the penguins, but normally they don’t run or better, waddle, away. The beach is very nice with the with sand and the big round rocks, but visitors have to stay at the boardwalk.
Table Mountain is the most famous emblem of Cape Town, and that with a good reason. It exists no other city in the world that got a breath-taking mountain in the neck like the Table Mountain, which lies directly on the sea. The best view on the mountain you got definitely from “Table View”, which is located about 15 km in the north of Cape Town and easy to reach with the car or by bus.
If you visit south Africa, you have to go naturally also to the cape of good hope and cape point. It’s located about 70 km in the south of Cape Town and it’s easy to reach with the car. It’s the best if you do the route on the west side of the peninsula, so you got also the possibility to visit other attractions like “Camps Bay” and “Hout Bay”. Almost arrived at the cape you have to pass a Checkpoint to enter the national park, from there are only a few kilometres to the target. The street splits up one time, to the right you reach the cape of good hope, meanwhile to the left you reach the cape point. At the cape of good hope you will see big crowds who are fighting to get a good picture at the sign, which shows that you are at the cape of good hope.
