We stayed in Ichtia (Greece) – the rooms are all themed named after Islands around the world.

12 separate island cottages, the restaurant and their pool sit on the edge of the Atlantic. The view from the lounge is towards Hout Bay and the Sentinel, the unique shaped mountain which guards the entrance to the bay. Whilst sipping cocktails and snacking on canapés, the twinkling lights of the village and the setting sun paint a spectacular picture of the magnificent place. Absolute bliss.

Their little individual touches everywhere you look and last but not least the most amazing Restaurant will make you want to come back over and over again.

So even if you may not be able to afford sleep at this amazing place, try to come for their incredible breakfast, lunches or a mind-blowing dinner experience, rounded off with a very nice bottle of white Mulderbosch.

The friendly general manager invited us out of the blue to a glass of 2008 Meerlust Rubicon with our maincourse – they have a huge selection of wines and even a wine tasting room – so no need to drive to Stellenbosch.

Special thanks to the managers Melissa and Rhino who looked after us like royalty, our wonderful waiter Iknu and of course the wonderful chef.

The bad thing about it ….where do you go from here?

The good news is that they have 3 lodges (Houtbay, Johannesburg and Krugerpark) so it looks like we have to try the others as well .
