The name came from an international treaty signed in 2003 which incorporate the AiAis Hot Springs Game Park in Namibia and the Richtersveld National Park in South Africa.
This is the southernmost tip of Africa. It’s the official meeting place of the Atlantic ocean and Indian Oceans. The place of rugged beauty and natural heritage. Many national monuments are found in the area, mainly the Cape Agulhas Light House which has been in operation since 1849.
The park was proclaimed in 1931 to protect the last remaining Eastern Cape Elephants. The park was then only 2230ha in size and today its covers 180 000ha and protect 5 diverse biomes.
Winter days in Cape Town are not as bad as their reputations: No queues at the cable car, sunshine and mild temperatures, no wind blowing like the South Easter and no traffic. That means you can enjoy driving along the streets of the Western Cape even more.
Winter in Cape Town does not mean that there is nothing to do. It might be you have to do without long sunny beach days (although you might still find those beautiful calm afternoons in between) – but the Mother City does definitely not sleep.

Easter is the time of the year when chocolate bunny’s and pickled fish and hot cross buns dominate the stores and our shopping baskets. It’s a perfect time to jet off this awesome long weekend from the 3rd to the 6th April.
One-day circuit from Cape Town From Cape Town you can at least drive more than 6 passes at only one day. Starting along the coast in the north towards the Durbanville Hills and vineyards over the N1. You will pass briefly the oldest road of Stellenbosch. The next places you should get to are Helshoogte Pass, Franschhoek Pass, Theewaterskloof Dam, Floorshoogte Pass, Clarence Drive (follow the undulating coastline for about 70km kilometres to Gordons Bay), False Bay, Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, Fishhoek and Glencairn and up on Red Hill. Don’t miss the panoramic view of False Bay villages of Scarborough, Misty Cliffs and Kommetjie. The last pass and the highlight of the day should be the world renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive. From there you can follow the long and bending Victoria Road back to Cape Town.

Come and join the Two Oceans Marathon When it’s time for Easter, it’s also time for the Two Oceans Marathon! The world’s most beautiful marathon through Cape Peninsula takes place on 4 April 2015, the Saturday before Easter. The first race was held in 1970 and 26 runners participated there, not knowing that this marathon will be known as the world’s most beautiful marathon very soon. Since then, the race has become a national institution and over 30 000 athletes join it every year.

The theme for Cape Town Carnival this year is ELEMENTAL! Celebrate Earth, Water, Fire and Air together with over 2 000 elaborately costumed dancers, musicians and performers. Choose your favourite element, get in your most spectacular costume and join the 1km long Fan Walk at the corner of Coburn and Somerset Roads in Green Point.
NEW ROUTE INFORMATION cycle route It’s been an extremely worrying and tense week for Cape Town. For the last four days our beautiful Southern Peninsula, that the iconic Cape Town Cycle Tour traditionally passes through, has been on fire. It’s been devastating.
February is always a busy time of the year with the opening of parliament, State of the nation Address and of course the much anticipated budget speech. This year however it is about to get a little busier with the Mining Indaba taking place in February as well.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is the world’s largest individually timed cycling event. Starting on Sunday, 8 March 2015 there will be attending 35 000 cyclists from all over the world.
